Dr. Caitlin Singleton first stated, “when I grow up I am going to be a dentist” at 6 years old! She was able to make that dream happen with inspiration from her childhood dentist, Dr. Strong, & the experiences she had at the Univ. of Michigan’s dental hospital. Dr. Singleton served as an assistant & learned a great deal about treating dental emergencies from toothaches to large trauma cases.
Dr. Singleton is proud to be a dental graduate of UNC – Chapel Hill & has loved living in the south! She enjoys giving back to the community by participating in dental clinics across NC, the nation & the world. Dr. Singleton is dedicated to furthering her dental education & regularly takes continuing education courses to stay current with the latest techniques & technology. She is excited to continue her studies with a 10-part dental series by the world-renowned Dr. John Kois in Seattle.
Dr. Singleton enjoys all aspects of general dentistry including tooth-colored fillings, crowns, bridges, implant crowns, root canal therapy, tooth removal, dentures & Invisalign (clear braces). She also enjoys working with all ages, from 1-year-old to her oldest patient at 99 years
While not in the office, Dr. Singleton volunteers with the Junior League of Durham & Orange Counties (JLDOC) & cannot wait to help those underserved on a mission trip [hopefully] soon. She also enjoys exploring Durham, Raleigh & the surrounding areas (especially the beach) with her husband Tyler & their 4-year-old Australian Shepherd, Ockee. They love to check out new local restaurants, so be sure to bring your suggestions when you come to your next dental visit!
We are so fortunate to have most of our wonderful, professional staff of many years. Our patients often tell us they feel like part of our practice family. Sandra and Teresa have been in the practice about a year now. Sandra brings decades of experience and joy to us as office manager and can especially help with insurance questions. Teresa brings lots of fun and experience to the reception area. Donna, one of our hygienists, and Lisa, one of our chairside assistants, came on in 1989. Halcyon, a part time hygienist, joined us in 1991 and has been wonderful to help us on and off as we have needed more hygiene treatment. She returned more regularly in 2014. Mandy, our other chairside assistant, joined us in 2004 and helps us on so many levels. Donna, Lisa, Halcyon and Mandy have each had intervals of family leave and time away, and we are so delighted to have them with us. Heather, our part time hygienist/part time assistant, joined us in 2015 but has worked in multiple offices including a periodontal specialty practice. According to our staff, “We like to think of working here as a big family circle. We may come and go with life’s changes but no one ever leaves Dr. Eaker!” Our staff’s clinical experience along with Dr Eaker almost 50 years of combined experience allows us to provide low-stress, conservative, preventive and caring dentistry for our patient family.
Donna joined us in 1989. Donna has three children and three stepchildren. Her oldest son lives in Colorado and married in 2014, her daughter graduated from the University of Va. with a swim scholarship, swam in the Bejing Olympic games and lives in Los Angeles. Her youngest son lives near Gastonia, her hometown, and was married in 2015. Donna enjoys dancing, cooking and gardening. She has worked thru some big life changes, emerging with the same bright smile she greets her patients with each day. “Life is ever changing, I just try to keep up with it and be happy.”
Lisa has three daughters and two stepdaughters. Twins in high school and her oldest attends Guilford College. As far as spare time activities go, Lisa says “With three young girls – what is spare time?” She does enjoy reading and spending time with her family.
Mandy joined us in 2004. Her and her husband Mickey have 5 childrentwo boys and 3 girls. They live in Burlington with their youngest 2 daughters. Mandy enjoys spending time with her family, church, cooking, and anything outdoors. It’s not hard to see her passion for dentistry, and wanting the best for her patients. In Mandy’s own words “My greatest achievement is having found my balance between home and work. Never forgetting to laugh and enjoy every day!”
Halcyon has returned in Hygiene as of September 2014. She worked for us full time for a few years back in the 90’s and then spent time at home with her children. We are happy to have her back 1-2 days a week and as often as we can get her. She lives in Wake Forest with her husband, Greg. Her son Adren completed his undergraduate at Colorado School of Mines and completed his masters in Geophysics at Michigan Tech in December 2019. Her daughter graduated from Hillsdale College in 2014 and a masters in Economics from George Mason in 2017. She teaches at Kings College in Manhattan. Halcyon and Greg have two beautiful granddaughters.
Heather joined the practice in the Summer of 2015 for 2 days a week in hygiene. She and her husband, a firefighter, have 2 young boys that play football and keep her busy. She loves fishing at the coast and is very good at it.
